The 2026-2027 Cathedral Robotics team is off to a great start for this year’s robotics season, BioBuzz! Cathedral’s robotics team looks forward to representing Cathedral and all it stands for: integrity, discipline, focus, and courage. This year, FTC chose pollination and our fuzzy little earth-gardener bees as this season’s theme. The field includes 4 flowers, one on each field panel; two hives, one for each alliance; and two gardens, one for each alliance. There will be 4 teams, from which two alliances will be created. This year's game aims to collect pollen and nectar and shoot and place them into either the flowers or the respective hive.
All of Cathedral Robotics’ hard work leads up to their first meet, which will begin in November and run through December and into January. The team has a lot on the docket as they near their first competition. To summarize their goals, Mr. Esparza said the Cathedral Robotics team wants to “create a competitive robot from the get-go.” Cathedral Robotics is confident it can be incredibly successful this year because of the team’s work ethic and determination. Cathedral’s robotics team believes a successful year means earning a top finish for the FIRST Inspire Award, which goes to the best overall robotics team in El Paso.

To explain why Cathedral Robotics is so confident in its ability to compete and succeed this year, the answer comes down to its team culture. Robotics aside, one pattern among successful teams is an efficient, cohesive culture. According to Mr. Esparza, Cathedral Robotics’ team culture can be described as, “A culture of inclusivity, hard work, and having fun.” The unwavering confidence that seems to radiate from each member of robotics is simply contagious! When asked for a phrase that would set the tone for the season, Mr. Esparza said, “Championship or bust.”
This year’s Robotics season will be a promising one! Cathedral Robotics’ culture, combined with its preparedness, has made this team a force to be reckoned with. Their competitive season begins in November and continues into January, which is when they will hold a tournament right here at Cathedral-please come and support! To end off this article, in Mr. Esparza’s words, championship or bust!
